The Oriana

Performance-based Design

The Oriana is DMCI’s latest high-rise condominium project to be located along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, Philippines. Comprised of two towers with 55 and 56 floors, the condominium complex is DMCI’s current offering in luxury residences. The project is comprised of mainly 2BR units and includes a myriad of amenities, with outdoor amenities such as a basketball court, swimming pools and picnic areas, as well as indoor amenities including an entertainment room, co-working space and fitness gym.

The towers are conceived in structural concrete, with its main lateral system composed of shear walls located in the central core, and a massive mat foundation system.

Dynamis Mission

The Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and is characterized by the concentration of some of the most important subduction zones in the world, causing intense seismic activity in the areas covered.  Dynamis, as part of the design team, was in charge of executing the Performance-based Design for the project; in short, an optimal and efficient design that ensures safety in the event of a severe earthquake. This is especially notable, since the project is located less than 5 kilometres away from an active fault. As a result, near-fault effects such as fling-step, have also been taken into consideration.
